Night will mourn
And I’m sleeping on the better debt of day
Like the rising off
They won’t need me till tomorrow
Night that claims the sky
Forever dreams of a better day

The Most Amazing People…

I’m friends with them. I feel incredibly blessed to have such amazing people in my life supporting me at what I do… Sing and make music.

I emailed Valentines in Portland hoping to book my first live Portland show. Shortly after, the booking agent just happened to be in my beau’s workplace printing flyers. The two got to talking and my dude mentioned that I was looking to play a show at Valentines. Shelley (the booker for Valentines) opened up my email and listened to my music and said “This is perfect for Sunday.” Admidst the serendipity, I was invited to open on Sunday for Magic Fades and headliner, Purse Candy. Blessed.

At the show, I fumbled when starting my second track and explained that I would try again. The audience was so lovely and understanding. I was later told that my honesty was refreshing, but in all honesty I only thought it would be fair to the crowd for me to play better. Thoughts spun in my head regarding my need for more preparation, but I couldn’t let those thoughts lead my set. I knew I loved to sing, and I knew I could produce a powerful sound when singing by myself. I decided to tap into that power to connect to my audience full of friends and give them a good show.

My voice was the most powerful it had been live, and it felt amazing to sing for my loved ones who came out to show their support. I will always hold those people close to me.

Thank you, my amazing friends: Kevin, Lisa, Kaleb, Erik, Carmen, Lindsay, Lauren, Spencer, Janelle, Brooke, Gina, Kelsey, Ian, Kendra, Loren, Kate, Denise, Cristina, Zach, Sarah and Tom.

Work in Progress: “In My Head”

Lyrics: “In my head I am stronger than the money that they place inside my hand… my hand, my hand, my hand, my hand… my hand, my hand, my hands are my hands.”

If I ever get a tattoo, I know I want it to say either “in not of” or “redeemed.” As a piano player, I think I want this “redeemed” tattoo minus the scripture.

The Little Warrior Mission for Freedom:
Little Warriors resist conformity (the act of matching attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors to group norms), because we question what is ‘normal’ and norms are limiting. Instead of being “anti-conformity” or “non-conformity,” because “anti-” and “non-” have negative connotations, Little Warriors take a positive
approach by simply embracing ‘form.’

Little Warriors believe in the freedom to form into oneself and the freedom to form groups of community. We are free to be who we were created to be in Love - majestic beings. We believe in the freedom to form into our own without judgement and to form groups of community that stand for peace and love -
including but not limited to peaceful protest groups. So remember, Little Warrior, you are free to form.

In Not Of (3.04.12)
One day they may make / fun of me
for what I have to say / and then will you
stick up for me still / by my side
Will we ride?

How I can be in the world but not of it
How I can be grounded but still rise above it
How I can want to better it, but love it all the same
How I can make an impact without needing all the fame

When I cannot feel you / I’m all alone
“let my music heal you / and take you home
I have never been / far away
You just cannot see past / your skin with faith”

“Step into my world / feel your beat
Feel your heart twirl / made complete
You have always had / everything you need
Here I am forever / we’re so complete”

And when my mind gets like this,
God I just want to run beyond GPS
This triangulation is strangulation
This big brother is a mother f******
I gasp for breath as I exit this atmosphere
But this Little Warrior chooses love over fear
And then I remember my loved ones down below
And I know I need to make my return back home
For a hero doesn’t run to hide alone
Nor does she ask when she was given this life’s loan
I am here and need to make the best of it
And I will make my music and we never quit.

When I cannot feel me / all alone
let my music heal you / and take you home
I have never been / far away
So just see past your / skin with faith
Skin with faith
In not of
Skin with faith
In not of

Dig this flatsound:

they’ll like me when i’m sick

hi, my name is none of your concern
just listen and judge me for what you think i’m worth
and you said i like the way your fingers play the chords
i like the way you make me feel at home

i heard you’re at it again
i just called to say i never left
and good luck, good luck, good luck i heard you needed some
if your father could see the mess you made he wouldn’t like it very much
you’re playing a game entitled, “hey they’re going to like me when i’m sick”
just don’t lie in the bed you made yourself and expect me to tuck you in
because i wont

because i liked the way my fingers played with yours
yeah i liked the way you make me feel at home.

You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.

LW lyrics :: Lavender

LW Lyrics & Song Background

Track: “Lavender”

Album“Drop Beats Not Bombs”

Created: 8.16.11

Background: Emotion, these days, is not 100% pure in that we are usually not 100% happy or 100% angry. Instead, as my brother Nico made me aware in our conversations, people experience multiple emotions at a time (ex. happiness with a tinge of fear or anger with a dose of guilt). This song was written with that in mind. Sometimes we think we know what we want, but then we realize we have no clue at all. There are days when we want memories to go away but then days when we cling to them in desperate reminiscence. We can have it either way, really. We just need to choose. We need to implement our free will and decide what we want and how we want to attain what we want. Do we need it or do we just want it? What is necessary and what can we give up in practice of self-discipline? Just some of the many things I think of on a daily basis in order to free my life up in hopes that I can remain more and more present-minded.

Lyrics:

(lay me down, lay me down)

Lay me down on sheets of lavender

Say the pain will go away

Say something you’ve never told me

To make me feel okay

Girl, I’m sorry, but I promise, it will go away

You never need to cling to the stains

Man, I’m sorry, but I promise, these things can stay

If you want it, let the memory remain

Don’t let it go

Don’t let it stay

I can’t figure out

What I want to remain

Lay me down on sheets of lavender

Say the pain will go away

Say something you’ve never told me

To make me feel okay

What do you have to have

What do you need to give?

What do you need to have

What do you have to live?

What do you have to need

What do you have to give?

What do you need to have

What do you have to live?

Somethings need to change in order to stay the same

Somethings need to stay in order to change their ways

The mellow groove of this track paired with the lyrics (taken from a famous essay written in 1997 by Mary Schmich, a columnist with the Chicago Tribune) make for a heavenly musical marriage. I leave you with this jam as I tear up, because Mary Schmich is definitely a Little Warrior with her inspirational message. much love <3
